With no bridge across the Solent, the easiest way to travel to the Isle of Wight is via boat.

Car ferries depart from Portsmouth to Fishbourne, Southampton to East Cowes and Lymington to Yarmouth and take between 30 – 60 minutes depending on route.

Passenger boats leave from Southampton to Cowes and Portsmouth to Ryde with the Hovercraft departing from Southsea to Ryde.
